Potassium chloride (KCl, or potassium salt) is a metal halide salt composed of potassium and chlorine. It is odorless and has a white or colorless vitreous crystal appearance. The solid dissolves readily in water, and its solutions have a salt-like taste. Potassium chloride can be obtained from ancient dried lake deposits. KCl is used as a fertilizer, in medicine, in scientific applications, and in food processing, where it may be known as E number additive E508. Potassium Chloride KCl is the source of potassium for almost all the potassium based chemicals. Potassium is vital in the human body and oral KCl is the common means to replenish it, although it can also be diluted and given intravenously. It can be used as a salt substitute for food, but due to its weak, bitter, un-salty flavor, it is usually mixed with regular salt (sodium chloride), for this purpose to improve the taste. We also manufacture Micro Encapsulated Potassium Chloride, by encapsulating Potassium Chloride Granules with Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil or with a polymer as required by the buyer. Encapsulation makes the core material slow release or extended release. |
